Biography

Aretha Virginia Grayson, whose stage name is Aretha Aretha, from the DMV (DC MD VA) metropolitan area first public appearance in the 70’s, singing as a young teen, with the Grayson Singers, the family’s gospel choir. Several years later, she performed her first solo, in her high school talent show. It was there she had found her calling.

 

After enlisting in the Armed Forces, she continued honing her vocal talent as a soldier. In 2000 she earned a spot with the US Army Entertainment’s USA Express Show Band, then in 2001 the US Army Soldier Show. On tour, Aretha Aretha performed nationally and internationally in over 100 shows for soldiers, families, and military officials, including touring the East and West Coast, Alaska, Hawaii, Guam, Korea, and Japan.

 

In 2002, the end following Aretha Aretha’s Regular Army active duty enlistment she consecutively enlisted into the District of Columbia Army National Guard. She served as the 257th Army Band featured vocalist for three years. She performed on the John F. Kennedy Center, Millennium Stage and on the grounds of the US Capitol, to name a few, until her honorable discharge. In 2004 she attended Northern Virginia Community College where she placed first in the Jazz and Popular Music Vocal Completion. As of 2009 performing in and around the DMV and beyond performing. Today you can find Aretha Aretha singing RnB, and most any genre of music, in various venues and establishments, either as a solo artist, with a band, and perhaps even with a choir, always doing what she loves to do best.
